Overview

The BCT-700 imposes a starter-like load on a 12V car battery and observes the voltage drop under load. It quickly indicates whether a battery can crank the engine—ideal for service bays, PDI checks and workshop diagnostics. Jump to How it works or browse the FAQ.

Why choose BCT-700

  • Selectable load levels: 100A, 175A, 300A, 400A for realistic results
  • High-rate discharge to simulate cranking performance
  • 3.5-digit LED voltmeter powered by the battery under test
  • 3-color status LEDs: Charged · Weak · Dead
  • Compatible with AGM / EFB / Flooded 12V automotive batteries

How it works

  1. Connect clamps securely to a fully charged 12V battery (clean terminals, good contact).
  2. Select the desired load (100A / 175A / 300A / 400A) based on capacity.
  3. Apply the load for about 10 seconds and read the LED voltmeter.
  4. Status LEDs indicate Sufficient, Weak, or Dead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is it for?

Automotive workshops and professionals needing durable testers.

Is calibration needed?

Follow standard workshop calibration/verification intervals if required.

Which batteries are supported?

12V automotive lead-acid types including AGM, EFB and flooded. For 24V systems (two 12V in series), test each 12V battery separately.

How do I choose a load?

100A (≤~60Ah), 175A (~60–90Ah), 300A (~90–120Ah), 400A (>120Ah/high-CCA). Start lower if unsure and increase as needed.

How long is the test and how to read it?

About 10 seconds under load. Healthy batteries hold voltage on the LED meter; a big drop indicates weak or dead.

Any safety/cooldown tips?

Ensure tight clamp contact on clean terminals. Avoid extended discharges; allow short cooldowns between repeated tests.
